Literally any popular anime where the community comes up with theories about plot twists or character origins. There was this one theory for [insert generic fantasy anime name here, or just keep it vague] about the main villain's true motive being way more complex and tragic, which would've made the whole series ending HIT SO MUCH HARDER.
