why are all my comfort characters sad 😭

No but like, legit question. Every single character I gravitate towards, the ones I'd *want* to hug and tell everything's gonna be okay, are perpetually going through it! Trauma, angst, existential dread, found family drama but they're still sad. WHERE IS THE JOY?! I just want some chill, well-adjusted vibes for once. Am I cursed to only stan sadbois and sadgworls? OMG FR THO!!! Like, my brain *actively* seeks out the ones with the most baggage. It’s a curse, I swear. I just want to protect them all, but then *I* end up sad. It's a whole vicious cycle. I feel seen. 😭💔

Ngl I think it's because deep down we relate to the struggle. Happy characters are great, but the ones who overcome actual sh*t hit different, you know? It's like we project our own need for comfort onto them. Also, complex characters are just more interesting to stan. ✨
